Dr. Jane Walter graduated from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine in 1985. She completed a two year surgical residence program at Baptist Medical Center in Brooklyn, with a specialty in forefoot surgery and diabetic foot care. Prior to that, she received a Bachelor of Science from Marquette University and a Master of' Science from New York University.

BOARD CERTIFICATIONS/HOSPITAL AFFILIATIONS

Dr. Walter is board certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery. She is a member of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. She is also a Board Certified Wound Care Specialist as well as a member of the American Academy of Wound Management.

She is currently a senior staff member at Florida Hospital Flagler.

AWARDS AND HONORS

Dr. Walter's awards and academic honors include recognition in “Who's Who Among Students in American Universities”, “Outstanding Young Women of America”. She received recognition as a top national podiatrist in 2009 and published an article in The Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery describing an innovative surgical technique for severe correction of severe bunions in the senior population.

PERSONAL INFORMATION

Dr. Walter was born in New York City and grew up in Ridgewood, New Jersey. Her parents moved to Palm Coast in 1980 and encouraged her to join them due to the need for a local podiatrist. Jane has since been a resident of Palm Coast since 1987.

While not hard at work, Dr. Walter enjoys walking and running. In the past, she completed the New York City Marathon 10 years in a row as well as several other long-distance races. Additionally, she has been part of the medical team for several races. Recently she has taken up golf and plans to participate in local fundraising tournaments. In her spare time, Dr. Walter also enjoys playing piano and takes lessons through the local Community Adult Education program.

COMMUNITY SERVICE

Service to the community has always been an important aspect of Dr. Walter's life. She has been an active member of the Flagler County Rotary since 1995. This year she added a display to the local Fantasy Lights, the annual holiday light display at Town Center. (You might even see her waving to visitors as the 8th day of Christmas!) In addition, Dr. Walter is a past Board Member of the Education Foundation dedicated to scholarships and enhancement of the local school system. Dr. Walter now serves as a consultant to the Flagler County Free Clinic, providing free care to patients on a referral only basis. She has also participated as a sponsor and runner in the Annual Race for the Free Clinic.

INTERNATIONAL SERVICE

Dr. Walter responded to the call for help after the earthquake in Haiti as a member of the rescue team sponsored by the University of Notre Dame and Worldwide Village. As part of the team, she spent two weeks in Leagone performing emergency surgery and wound care to those in need.
